Michael A. Schantz, President/CEO

Mike followed in his father Ray’s footsteps by starting in the welding and fabrication of concession trailers during his summers off from high school in 1984.

He eventually worked his way through the entire manufacturing process and by the end of 1989 completed training in AutoCad version 11. He then went on to switch the company over from paper design drawings to CAD.

By 1996 Mike and Ray needed to expand again, and moved the company into a brand new 26,000 sqft manufacturing facility in Highland IL. The facility featured state of the art welding and fabrication area’s along with a 70 ft long paint booth and graphic department.

In 1998 Mike changed the companies mostly hand fabricated part manufacturing processes over to the latest CNC fabricating technology. The equipment included a 22 ton turret punch press and 120 ton 10 ft press brake. This equipment has proved to revolutionize the Schantz manufacturing process by increasing part accuracy and quality. It has further proven to give Schantz near limitless production capabilities.

By the year 2002 Mike added on to the company’s computer aided design capacity by moving the entire company to AutoDesk Inventor and now builds all trailer components in full 3D. This has allowed the engineers at Schantz to prove out their designs before they ever hit the shop floor.

Starting in late 2007 until early 2009 Mike has phased in 3 new concession trailer designs which have allowed Schantz to provide trailers to nearly every level of the food concession businesses.
